Chair's Message

March 21, 2012

Conference season is once again upon us. The 2012 CNAM Workshop in Montreal is slated to be another success with many speakers from across Canada and around the world coming to share their ideas and strategies with you. The event is scheduled from May 6-9 at the Hotel Bonaventure and I personally welcome each of you to check out the program (available in both English and French) and register for this event at www.cnam.ca. I look forward to the opportunity to see you at the workshop!

New Member Benefits

The CNAM board is continuing to work on numerous initiatives that augment existing member benefits such as your current free membership to the Institute for Asset Management. To highlight, we will be starting the development of a new knowledge center to be added to the CNAM website. In addition to this, the Education, Research and Training Committee is looking for volunteers to assist with the startup of other initiatives, including the development of an asset management competency framework, formal certification/qualifications for asset management, and development of regional training events. If you are interested in getting involved or wish to provide product for inclusion to the knowledge center, please send an email to admin@cnam.ca.

Regional Partnerships

Finally, CNAM is working to finalize partnership agreements with regional asset management organizations and communities of practice starting in Western Canada. The establishment of these partnership agreements sets the stage for all interested parties to formalize networks that enable the sharing of asset management practices, to work to develop more frequent training events, and further assist in making asset management more accessible to smaller and larger municipalities.

Cheers,
Steve Wyton
